Asian: Can't Direct Can't Drive
I was talking with Ricky today and he asked why it had been a while since we have posted anything and that he feels like Whit and I do a bunch of fun things that his missing out on and he's kinda right. We're sorry we've haven't blogged in a long time. It mainly has to do with the fact that I was applying to schools and Whit has been working major hours. But enough with the excuses... (I know I have apologized before and I have promised that I would blog more but this time it's for real)
As I have previously posted I've been getting into photography and at the time I was rocking my Holga and Whit's old Canon rebel. Well over Christmas we added this sucker to our arsenal

And it is AWESOME! We also got a killer lens to go with it. Since Whit and I have this awesome camera now we decided we needed to learn a little about photography so we took a 3 day crash course on the basics of photography and it actually helped quite a bit. I now understand better how to work the camera and all that other stuff about exposures and whatnot but enough with the boring stuff...
If you haven't heard yet and most likely you haven't since we haven't told many people (No Whitney isn't pregnant) we're going to Europe in the Summer. My dad has been doing an executive MBA through Oxford and he's graduating so we decided to go over and check out his graduation and figured since we were going to be in England why not make a quick trip over to France. Well I want to take a bunch of rad pictures while I'm over there and one thing I decided to do to help me get better at taking rad pictures was to do that whole take a picture a day and post it thing. So that's what I'm going to be doing from now until our trip and hopefully for a whole year. But I started today and here is todays photo
I still haven't decided if I'm going to post my pictures up on our blog or if I'll use picasa or some other site but when I finally figure out what I'll use I'll be sure to let you all know. I hope you all enjoy this little experiment of mine. (I've thrown in a couple more random shot's I've taken in the past couple of months to make up for the lack of posts)
This last one was taken with my iphone but I loved it so much I just had to post it.

Delusions of Grandeur
Excuse my absence from the blogging world. I have been fighting a serious case of TBA. I am glad to say I've gotten over it hopefully. We shall see. On to the post.
The past couple of weeks I've had the urge to take millions of pictures. Whit can attest to this. I really don't know what's gotten into me. Well this might have something to do with it:
Beside the obviousness of my asian genes it might have to do more with the apps on the iphone. I bought one that mimics a holga and I was taking more pictures with it than an asian tourist at Disneyland. So Whit being the rad Wife she is got me this for my birthday:
So this last weekend I took it out for a little test run and this is what came out.

Apparently photography skills don't come natural to me like kung fu but I guess I'll just have to practice. I also busted out Whit's old Canon rebel and got some black and white film.
I think the best part of it all was waiting for the film to get developed. It's been years since I last took some pictures without knowing what they looked like instant after. It was exactly like I remembered it. I would take a picture thinking it would look amazing only for it to come out nothing like I thought it would. Maybe that is why asians take so many pictures they figure that in all the shots at least one will turn out. Guess I'll just carry my camera around everywhere I go now. Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Ode to Mike

I can't believe it's that time of year again. It feels like just yesterday we were sticking candles in a cannoli and celebrating in Boston.
Another ode to Mike is in order. I believe this calls for a haiku or two or three:
Happy birthday dear
We are going to Evvia
You are my favorite
Twenty-eight is old but good
Funfetti nom nom
New camera, new film
New mono beatles box set
And of course best wife

Once Upon a Time
there was an air horn.

The air horn was used to honk at people walking the streets of Provo, with its use targeted at couples holding hands. The two friends that had the air horn had hours of fun giggling at people that jumped or reacted to the air horn. Sadly, one day the air horn ran out of air and died, making no more loud noises to scare the passerbys of Provo.
Then came the megaphone.
These two friends went to Radioshack in Orem together looking for the perfect megaphone so that their adventures conversing with the pedestrians roaming Provo could continue. A salesman tried to sell one friend, let's call him "Mike", a large $100 megaphone, complete with voice activator attachment. Mike went for the smaller version, for less money, but with just as much impact and complete with 20 programmed jingles.
Thus, Mike and the other friend, let's call her "Whitney", continued their adventures riding around in cars and using the megaphone to deliver witty messages to unsuspecting college-aged foot travellers.
The megaphone has remained in Mike's car to this day, and he still uses it to tell Whitney that he loves her as he drops her off from a lunch date as she walks into her firm.
Today while Whitney was at work, Mike emailed Whitney this message and accompanying picture.

It made Whitney chuckle and made her miss Mike.
